Información de seguridadSafety information

Cumplimiento de normas y advertencias críticasCompliance with standards & critical warnings

All work must comply with the tyre manufacturer's air pressure limits and operational guidelines, and with applicable Australian safety standards (AS4457.1:2024). Improper handling or servicing of tyres, wheels and rims can lead to rapid deflation events, posing risk of serious injury or death to workers and bystanders.

Prioritise safety above all else when working with rims and wheels.
Consult safety documentation, site procedures and applicable standards before starting any task.
If in doubt about any procedure, stop the task immediately and seek guidance from a qualified professional.

Tyre and rim handling must be performed by workers with accredited training, under a qualified supervisor.
Familiarise yourself with the tyre manufacturer's instructions and any site-specific procedures.

Levantamiento e izaje seguroSafe lifting practices

Use appropriate lifting equipment for heavy components and follow the equipment manual.
Perform all lifting in a controlled manner to prevent accidents or injuries.

Visually inspect tyres and rims during every routine check or rotation.
Identify and remove from service any bent, cracked, deformed or corroded component — do not reuse it.

Precauciones para prevenir eventos de desinflado rápidoPrecautions to prevent rapid deflation events

01

Fully deflate the tyre before servicing and remove the valve core to release all air, before detaching any component.

02

Verify the compatibility of all components using markings, profile gauges and reference charts before assembly. Do not inflate until this check is complete. Do not combine components from different profiles or use unidentified components.

03

Acciones prohibidasProhibited actions

Do not use open-ended lock rings (that do not overlap). Never modify rims or wheels in ways that alter specifications. Never weld or cut near rims with a tyre fitted. Use only soft metal or hard plastic mallets — never steel mallets.

04

Begin inflation cautiously. At 5 psi, inspect component alignment and seating. If not correctly set, stop immediately, fully deflate and disassemble. Always follow the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

05

AlmacenamientoStorage & movement prevention

Store tyre and rim assemblies securely to prevent accidental movement or toppling.

From the factory, lock rings have a minimum 25mm end-to-end overlap, though this can vary by size and profile. With use, spring tension naturally decreases — this is normal wear. OTR recommends immediately removing from service any lock ring with a complete loss of overlap (ends no longer touching).

Axial unevenness should be less than 3mm when the ring is loose.

The gap between ends should be approximately 25mm.

En la ranuraIn the groove

El perfil debe asentar de forma segura, con un espacio radial menor a 2mm.The profile should seat securely, with a radial gap of less than 2mm.

Cómo leer un códigoHow to read a code

Marcas descriptivasDescriptor markings

Understanding this code helps confirm two components are compatible before assembly. Example for a rim base:

The same system applies to bead seat bands (BSB) and lock rings (LR). If in doubt about a specific code, check with us before assembling.

Identificadores en la ruedaIdentifiers on the wheel

Número de serieSerial number

Identifica de forma individual cada rueda o rin (ej. 800-700-900).Individually identifies each wheel or rim (e.g. 800-700-900).

Fecha de fabricaciónDate of manufacture

Indica el fabricante y la fecha (ej. OTR 11-24).Shows the manufacturer and date (e.g. OTR 11-24).

Otras marcasOther markings

WB2925EMD CAT AD45B).Identify the machine make and model for correct fitment (e.g. WB2925EMD CAT AD45B).

Tubeless OTR rims are grouped into 1, 3, 5, 6 or 7-piece assemblies, each classified by its lock ring groove profile (GR, EM, ES, EV, EU, ULX, EUS, TLS). Profile gauges help identify these differences and prevent the use of mismatched components.

01

Identifique el rinIdentify the rim

Use the available gauges to find the one matching the lock ring and o-ring grooves in the rim.

02

With the gauge that matched in Step 1, visually compare the gauge cutout to the lock ring's end profile — without forcing a physical fit, to avoid injury or damage.

03

With the remaining gauge, match the contact angle between the band and the face touching the lock ring. If it doesn't match, you have a mismatch — consult the OTR technical catalogue before continuing.

AdvertenciaWarning

Do not attempt to assemble or service the wheel unless ALL components pass the three steps above. Servicing mismatched components can lead to DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY.
